A couple weeks ago, '98 Camaro 3.8L developed an intermittent misfire. When a heavy load is placed on the engine (like high-gear, low-speed acceleration, or normal WOT acceleration), the engine misfires a few times before smoothing out. The MIL does not come on at all. If I am cruising (partial throttle) or just doing normal stop-and-go driving, everything seems fine.
From what I understand, this sounds like a bad spark plug wire. I know theses cars have problems due to the asinine location of the spark plugs underneath the exhaust manifolds. As far as I know, the plugs are still fine, it's only the wires that will need to be replaced. Can anyone back me up on this diagnosis?
