OK, I've figured out the memcal is not removable; which means I'm going to have to pay $300+ for the reprogram from Fastchips. I want this to be the last mod(i.e. money) I spend on my car. It has 108K on it right now and I'm planning on keeping it till it blows up. Would this my a good "Grand finale" mod? See sig for other mods. ;)

I called yesterday and he said he could. What chip do you use and is it any good? I think Jet and Fastchips are the only two I have to choose from.1993 Pontiac Firebird 3.4L V6 A4<br />F41 RPO suspension option<br />119K miles<br />Fastchip<br />K&N \"Filtercharged\"<br />Airbox cuttout CAI<br />ASP underdrive pulleys<br />Pacesetter Headers<br />Flowmaster 80 Series 2.75 cat-back<br />MangaFlow Hi-Flow Cat<br />Corvette Servo<br />16.4 @ 81 MPH

Ed will be able to remove the speed limiter and adapt for a different rear end. No performance programming though. The JET Chip is the only one out there for performance.
I don't use either one. I used to use a JET Chip, but it doesn't work well with my engine now because of what I have done.- Josh<br />If you have any questions or need installation pics/help, e-mail me: Viper98885@aol.com<br /><a href=\"http://Camaroz28.cardomain.com/id/viper98885\" target=\"_blank\">\'93 Camaro Hardtop</a><br /><a href=\"http://Camaroz28.cardomain.com/id/01lincolnls8\" target=\"_blank\">\'01 Lincoln LS8 Sport</a><br />\'00 Yamaha YZF-R6<br /><a href=\"http://www.ftpp.net\" target=\"_blank\">Full Throttle Performance</a>

Did the Jet chip work well for you when you had your stock engine? I emailed him and he said I would pick up 16 hp and 25ftlbs torque. Why would he say that if he cant program for performance? Why can he do 94-97 3.4s but not 93?

He did mine and I love it
I don't see a difference in the 93 3.4 and the 94-95 3.4, but if he says he can do it then mail him your PCM and get it done!
It made a very noticeable difference in my car... when I first got my car I could barely squeel the right rear tire going around a turn but it will smoke the hell out of both tires now :D
edit - Don't get a JET chip either, they're worthless. The shop my dad worked at did computer work and they looked at a stock PCM and the JET chip programming... EXACTLY THE SAME! The JET chip didn't change a damn thing, those things are a rip off.

Apparantly, the computers in the 1993 F-Bodies are different than the 94+ computers. When I told him that I had a 1993 3.4L V6, he said he couldn't do it.
The JET Chip offered a little boost of power, but nothing that will throw you back in your seat.- Josh<br />If you have any questions or need installation pics/help, e-mail me: Viper98885@aol.com<br /><a href=\"http://Camaroz28.cardomain.com/id/viper98885\" target=\"_blank\">\'93 Camaro Hardtop</a><br /><a href=\"http://Camaroz28.cardomain.com/id/01lincolnls8\" target=\"_blank\">\'01 Lincoln LS8 Sport</a><br />\'00 Yamaha YZF-R6<br /><a href=\"http://www.ftpp.net\" target=\"_blank\">Full Throttle Performance</a>

i e-mailed him the other day and this was the responce
"Hello,
Those 3.4L V6 engines normally
gain 15 to 16 hp at the wheels, and 25
ft lbs more torque. I also remove the
top speed limiter, turn the cooling fan
on sooner to improve cooling, and firm
up the shifts on the 4L60E automatic cars.
That car has a reprogrammable PCM (computer),
not a chip you can just plug in. The only
way I can do one is to have the vehicle
or it's PCM here for the reprogramming.
If you are too far away to drive here
(Tulsa, OK) you could pull the PCM and
ship it to me for reprogramming. I can
normally turn one around within 48 hrs.
If you drove here I would do it while
you wait. The cost would be $300.00, +
freight if shipping is involved.
If interested, please call
us @ 918-446-3019.
Thanks, Ed"
he obviously didnt even read my e-mail... the 93 cars dont even have a A4L60E, and that was the point of my mail.. -Aaron, AKA ATL2001<br />93 3.4L <br /><a href=\"http://www.ilfba.com\" target=\"_blank\">www.ilfba.com</a>

So all you will miss out on is the firmer shifts then, right?

95Batmobile, How much was shipping? If I can't get the Fastchip, where is the cheapest place to buy a Jet Chip?1993 Pontiac Firebird 3.4L V6 A4<br />F41 RPO suspension option<br />119K miles<br />Fastchip<br />K&N \"Filtercharged\"<br />Airbox cuttout CAI<br />ASP underdrive pulleys<br />Pacesetter Headers<br />Flowmaster 80 Series 2.75 cat-back<br />MangaFlow Hi-Flow Cat<br />Corvette Servo<br />16.4 @ 81 MPH

I E-mailed them too some time ago and they basically told me the same thing. Then, when I called, he said he couldn't do anything to my computer because of the type of chip in the 1993 F-Bodies. Brad C, if you need a JET Chip, lemme know...send me an E-mail.- Josh<br />If you have any questions or need installation pics/help, e-mail me: Viper98885@aol.com<br /><a href=\"http://Camaroz28.cardomain.com/id/viper98885\" target=\"_blank\">\'93 Camaro Hardtop</a><br /><a href=\"http://Camaroz28.cardomain.com/id/01lincolnls8\" target=\"_blank\">\'01 Lincoln LS8 Sport</a><br />\'00 Yamaha YZF-R6<br /><a href=\"http://www.ftpp.net\" target=\"_blank\">Full Throttle Performance</a>

It was about $50 if I remember right because you have over night it both ways.<b><a href=\"http://members.cox.net/95batmobile/d86f.jpg\" target=\"_blank\">Sinister Six©</b></a><br /><a href=\"http://www.sounddomain.com/id/95batmobile\" target=\"_blank\">My \'95 Bird</a><br />I am not afraid of storms, for I am learning how to sail my ship.

Here's my question:
<blockquote>quote:</font><hr>I was on the
CamaroV6 forums and they were saying that on the 93s you(Fastchip) can
only reprogram for tire size changes and top speed limiter, but can do
nothing for performance tuning. Is this true?<hr></blockquote>
Here's his response:
<blockquote>quote:</font><hr>
No, that is not true. Have no idea where that BS came from. More BS on
the Internet message boards than fact, but you have probably already
noticed that. <<G> The performance improvement is plenty noticeable. We
get a lot of positive feed back about the 3.4L F body cars, '93, '94 &
'95. The cost is $300.00 + freight.<hr></blockquote>
Thanks, Ed
