    hi all im new to firebirds i just purchased a 1995 firebird for 1500, the motor threw a rod thats how i got it cheap, so i was wondering if i could put a 3.8l in for a lil more hp, what exactly would i have to chnage for a 3.8l? its a manual trans and i dont want a v8 cuz im only 17 and gas is a little expensive haha so if anyone could help it be aprrreciated thanl you

    Well if you're going to do a swap you might as well just throw a V8 in it. You're going to pay around the same either way. I Just turned 18 and I have an Ls1. Gas isnt as bad as you think...well worth the power

      Yeah I looked into doing an ls1/lt1/3.8 swap but its just way to involved. Its best to have a donor car to take parts from because you will need lots of them. So maybe if you came up on a wrecked 3.8 with a running engine for cheap...

        I've never done an engine swap before, but at a minimum you would need the computer/wire harness from the 3.8; the 3.8 and a bell housing for your tranny to mate to the 90° 3.8 engine.
