    95 camaro 3.4L NO MODS

When I go to start the car up in the morning it will idle rough in the 500-1000 rpm range (not steady Idle). If I rev the engine in the 2000 rmp range for about 3 minutes then it seems to smooth out. Also there is a little bit of white smoke also that is associated with the morning start up. It won't idle rough after it is warmed up. Any one have any ideas?

Valve seals possibly? Just a guess. Did the car ever sit for a long period of time?

valve seals will give you blue smoke on startup.

        white smoke is water/coolant.

there is probably water in the exhaust system, and it is burning out

oh alright. well do you have any ideas of how water could reach the exhaust?

water is a byproduct of the cars exhaust, every car does this

edit* plus its from condensation from getting hot/cold

None of that would make the care idle rough. Its your O2 sensors reading like sh¡t until they warm up i would say. The smoke is from the rich fuel mixture. Does it sputter when you punch it cold in neutral?

I think I know what you're talking about. My 93 3.4 does it sometimes as well, but mostly when it's been running pretty hot (just from temp in general, not from lack of coolant.) It's almost like it wants to run like a beast, right? Like very rough low idle which sometimes will cause the car to stall out if you put it in drive (automatic) or turn on the A/C? Check your plugs, wires, and coil packs. That's a suggested starting point, but it's dificult to diagnose when it's only a "sometimes" problem. When I am able to get it in gear and go, I have to drive down the road a few hundred feet, still running rough, and it'll smooth out after about 30 seconds or so. I think this is what you're talking about, right? Like I said, as a starting point, check coil packs, plugs, and wires. Sometimes a coil pack is either dead or near it and that happens.

                  Re: Low Idle Start

yes that is exactly what it does. But only in the morning when it is cold and has not ran that day. How would I tell if the coils are bad?

                    white smoke is not fuel.

fuel is either a blue/black smoke

                    oil is blue

there may be a way to check them with a meter, but im not sure.

i doubt there is anything wrong with the coils.. usually they are hit or miss, either work, or dont work.

stalling when turning the ac on or putting it in drive does sound like a weak ignition though, you may have a drain in the battery which is causing that to happen, and after the alt recharges it, it goes back to normal

To the untrained eye , blue smoke is always mistaken for white smoke.

I already told you. Is your check engine light on?

No my check engine light is not on. So are you saying it could be burning of oil internally?
