  • WTF, brake lights are lit when headlight are on!?!?!

I almost got a ticket the other day for this:

w/ my headlights off, everything is fine.

w/ headlights on, the brake lights are on, so i have no rear turn signals and cars behind me cant tell when im braking.

    anyone have any idea?

check to make sure you have the right bulbs in there... I had an 88 s-15 jimmy that did the same thing the previous owner had replaced the brake lights with the wrong bulbs I drove it for a few weeks before I noticed

ACTUALLY...you might wanna check to see if the tailight sockets are burnt or melted. Its a common problem among the older firebirds and camaros. There was actually a bulletin about this at one time. Ive replaced a couple sets of sockets to correct incorrect lighting of tailights. Sometimes they just dim out. sometimes they dont work. Sometimes only half work. You're problem could be related. SOO check the sockets up close inside and out.

Take the bulbs out, rotate 180* and reinstall. If you put them in 180* out, they will stay bright. Check that first...dual filament bulbs are weird like that. I had the same problems a few years back and found out it was wrong installation.

I the 3rd (high center) brakelight lit as well? I've seen people drive with their 3rd light lit a few times. I hate being behind them
