I have taken LOTS of pics.... I am also writing down everything I'm doing to make an install guide.
Nothing broken yet.
Removing the crank bolt was a PITA.. that thing is on there TIGHT.. then removing the crank is a PITA as well.. I went to autozone and rented a harmonic ballancer pulley puller.
So far this is off the car:
Intake itself
Both intake manifolds
Alternator
Tensioner Bracket
Coil Packs
coolant is drained..
I just have to remove the valve covers now, pull the heads.. remvoe the water pump, front cover and swap the cam. lol
I'll probably take tommorow off to finish up.. So far I've just had 4 hours a day, and I just started yesterday night.
I'm hoping to dyno on saturday as well so I'm tryin to hurry up.
I ordered GM head gasket kit, head bolts, rocker bolts, front cover gasket and timing chain ... and I also ordered felpro exhaust manifold gaskets from Autozone.
I'll hopefully have pics on my webpage monday.

Not sure how much I'll gain.. I'm hoping for 30 rwhp.
THe car is on jack stands right now so I could get to the converter.. I'll probably pull it off the stands cause it is a pain to leen over it when its up there.
I'm also gonna leave work early today and try to finish up tonight. TOmmorow its supposed to be even colder and I really HATE working on my car in the cold.
The high for today is 45.. tommorow its around 30.
I have a small heater but it doesn't heat up my garage to a nice 72 degrees. :(
I also need to get pushrods.. I bet the cam base circle has changed and my heads are milled .020".. I'll go with a 210* chromoly 1 piece rod.Keith - Chicago
HP Tuners - PCM Reprogramming
97 Firebird V6 to LS1 swap
V8 9.967@132.78 1.322 60\' NA Heads/Cam
V8 10.295@128.48 1.363 60\' NA Cam Only
V8 10.987@119.31 1.422 60\' NA Stock Internals
V6 13.674@98.22 NA
V6 12.394@104.91 N20 100HP

hey Keith,
If you want a heater, i have a keroseen (sp?) heater.(actually its kevin's, my buddy w/ the grand prix gt) I use it during the winter after i wash my car and everything freezes. You'd be surprised how well that damn thing heats! you might as well wear shorts and a t-shirt cause it gets hot
Drop me an email or something and let me know, just incase u fall behind and HAVE to work in the cold
Good luck

Danny, thanks for the offer! I have 3 electric space heaters now that seem to be doin the job.. I just have to make sure they are on different circuit breakers. lol. I'll call you if they fail.
12 hours into the install........
New camshaft is on the car, timing chain is on and aligned (Its sooooo damn easy).
headers are unbolted.
1 head is off the car. (Gasket went with it! YAY)
I have to cut my y-pipe somewhere because my headers are welded to it and they are not falling down far enough. *sigh*
Tonight I'm going to buy some strong chromoly pushrods. (The ramps on the COMP Cams cam is pretty fast, I don't want to risk stock rods).
I'll bolt up the front engine cover really quickly, cut the y-pipe.. drop the manifolds down a little more out of the way..
gasket match my lower intake to the heads..
Tonight I will be happy if I have both heads on the car.
I have taken over 200 pics so far.

keith, i amire and respect the knowledge you have on our cars. i am the kind of guy given a bolt i WILL strip it. just my bad luck. God did not make me mechanically inclined, just good looking. j/k ;) if it makes you feel better, i just spent $1000 for the power pack install. sometime in my lifetime i hope i can realize i just saved 1 grand.
keep up the awesome work and let us know those numbers as soon as you get them.

Thanks guys....
Day 3....
Yesterday I ordered 7.000" Trickflow chromoly pushrods to stand up to the agressive lobes of the COMP Cams XE camshaft..
I had to cut the y-pipe a little, not completely, just enough so I could flex my headers down.. worked VERY well.
1 head is on the car and bolted up.. second head is unbolted, just need to pull that, clean the surface and bolt holes and install new head..
Front cover is on.
Maybe I'll get done tonight *shrug* It was FREEZING yesterday so I didn't work long.
