• Gas mileage question...

Before my old 3.8 blew i would get in the low 30's on the highway. It never had any oil pressure. The new motor would get about the same but not quite as good. I recently changed the thermastat from 195 to 180 and i am only getting in the upper 20's on the highway... this is with intake and exhaust. My other mods are intake, exhaust, and tb spacer. I have already put injector cleaner in it. What would be causing my mileage to be worse? I havent changed driving habbits. Would it be the thermastat or maybe something else such a a converter?

You may want to check the spark plugs and wires. IIRC, that may affect the gas mileage that your car gets. Not sure what else would be causing it. I'll see if I can think of anything else.

When I changed my thermostat from 195 to 180 I went from 29-30 on the interstate to 26-27.

      It is probably the thermostat.

here is my sugestion get that tornado fule saver thing. It really ****ing works since I'v put it in I'm noticed a real big increse in the get up and go power of my 94 3.4L camaro. I'm also avraging about 21 or 22 mpg in heavy city stop and go driving. So if you want to try I would highly recomend it and it only take about 5 minutes to install. The only problem is that the cost is kind of high but if you think about it it does pay for itself over time from getting you higher gas milages.

Tornado?? You have got to be kidding me. That thing has been proven to be a gimmick.

How can putting something in your intake that restricts air flow help you?

                        DO NOT BUY a Tornado.

But if you're dead set on the tornado, forget what he said about their website. You can get them much cheaper on Ebay. That way after you remove it you won't feel quite as screwed LOL

yup i fell for the spiral max...but i didnt know anything about cars then either. i would think it is all psychological like putting a sticker on your car to make it go faster, but guys seriously we should get back to helping this dude out...how does your radiator fluid look man, i read a few posts that said their crappy fluid messed up their mileage.(i think it would be because it slows down the water pump but im not sure) definetely check your o2s on a diagnostic
