My driver's window seems to be stuck. I replaced this motor about a year back and haven't had a problem with it until now. I had my top down for a few days, and kept the windows down the whole time. Looked like rain today so I put the top up and the windows. They went up without issue. Went to put them back down later on and driver's side is stuck (passanger is fine). It makes a eeeeeking type noise, like the motor is TRYING to work but it won't go down. Push it to go up and it seems to move a very little bit. Any ideas? Just stuck on something? I'm off tomorrow so I plan on ripping the panel off and taking a look. Anything specific I shoudl look for/ any idea whats going on? Thanks!

Re: Window stuck?
It still sounds like the motor is just loose to me. Have you pulled the door skin and looked yet?
Unbolt the motor and see if it works properly without the weight on the window against it. It sounds like the motor worked itself loose and isn't making solid contact with the gears for the window. If it doesn't work once you have it out and you multimeter the wires going to it you will know the motor is bad and can just replace it.

Re: Window stuck?
Well the motor was bolted down pretty tight. I pulled it out and checked it...gears would spin to go up but would make a terrible sound trying to go down, with no downward movement. Went out to advance and put a new one in for $50 (yeah I know eBay is cheaper but I'm impatient....especially when I have no a/c I NEED working windows, lol). Thanks to that pictoral guide that has been floating around these forums...that helped a LOT.
Really wasn't has hard as I had expected. Took maybe 2 hours included the drive to the parts store. But I was taking it slow. Works like a charm now. I was really close to taking it somewhere...glad I didnt and saved myself some $200 probably.
...forgot to mention, my old motor has some really nasty brown water in it...when you would turn it with the electrical conecter down it probably spit out about 2 or 3oz of the nastiest water you'd ever want to see. Must be more careful when smoking with the window cracked in the rain lol.

Re: Window stuck?
Glad you got it fixed. Sadly I can change a window motor in about 15 minutes no counting getting the door skin back on.
The upside to buying a window motor from advanced is they are suppose to have a lifetime warranty. So if it breaks again (it probably will) just get another for free.

Re: Window stuck?
Yup, I've done this once before...about 3 years ago but that was with the help of a friend who did most of the work, so this was the first time I went solo. Hokie....you must have quite a bit of experience if you can do it in 15, which is indeed sad. Sad that this is such a common and recurring problem. The hardest part for me was getting those darn bolts fastend back down. Will definitly save my reciept just incase.
Gotta love the net. No way I coulda figured this out on my own without the helpful information found out here in cyberspace. :-)
