so this is how it began, i bought one of those ac recharge cans and used it on my camaro. i've done it before on other cars and its worked however that was not the case with mine. after i recharged it i put the ac on low and drove to work. the car was running fine and i decided to mess with the ac while i was stuck in traffic. i put the ac on full blast and the air was coming out warm as usual and then i put i moved it from ac to max and then the car turned off. i turned the ac off, put the car in park and then turned it on again and continued waiting in traffic. when i got to work i turned the ac on one more time and it shut the car off again. any idea what could be going on? its not that big of a deal because i don't use my ac because it doesn't work. but if i am able to get it to work i would like to be able to use it without my car shutting off.

Re: ac turns car off
does sound like your compressor. if that stops moving then it might hold up your belt. what year is your car?
everyone says that car can run with out the belt attached, but i kind you not, if my belt isn't on my camaro isn't even going to crank over.
get someone to play with the a/c while you look under the hood. what do you see?
