a friend of mine has a camaro 3.8 1998 .His issue is he had a tune up he replaced all coils and the module. The issue is every few weeks the first coil pack goes bad and the second post looses all spark .this is the third time this has been replaced..... three things

1 his coil packs are aftermarket so no lables id like to know if someone could take a picture or draw a diagram to let me know witch numbers go on wich pack.

    2. when faceing the engine wich cylender is wich meaning what are the cylinder numbers ..

    3. today i had the module tested and it works fine could it be water seeping in or something to cuase that same spot to go bad
    1998 ls1 camaro
cold air
slp lid
slp loud mouth
used to be a v6 got a good deal so i turned her into a ls1
http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2058342/1

our cars are prone to have water drip on them from the cowl and make coils go bad.

The chart of the wire numbers is around somewhere, I will try and dig it up. Or try doing a search for it and it should come up

my vote would be that they are just getting wet. that would be the main thing to cause this. try to take the cowl off and see what you have, crack holes etc.

Go get a tube of dielectric grease from your parts store.

When assembling the coils to the ICM use the dielectric grease on the terminals sticking out of the ICM (primary circuit terminals), the ones that the coils plug into. Also before you plug in the coil, on the ICM carefully remove the orange weather seal, apply the dielectric grease to the cavity where the seal was removed, and then carefully re-install the seal. Then with the seal installed in the ICM, apply dielectric grease to the upper (exposed) surfaces of the seal. When you plug in the coil, and tighten it down with the 2 bolts, the dielectric grease should extrude (squish out) from the interfaces (joint). This grease will prevent water ingress and assure the performance of the coils even if they get wet (unless the coil is cracked or damaged). Will also prevent corrosion of the terminals over the long term. Also, use the dielectric grease on the coil posts (secondary circuit) before you install the ignition wire to the coil.
