Here is the list of what is going on with my Bird.
1. Leaking Water Pump
2. A/C compressor only kicks on while car is ideling. When you give it gas compressor clicks off.
(Yes, I have already checked the refridgerant and added in a lube recharge.)
3. Engine idle surges up to about 1300rpms and back down to around 800 rpm repeatedly while in gear and in park.
4. Weird howling/squealling type noise coming from motor while running.
The idle surging problem started a long time ago, but I used to just reset the computer and car would run fine again for two months or so and then problem would happen again so I would repeat the process. Now it won't stop. If I let the car sit for a day then it will run normally for a little while and then start acting up again. While the engine is running it is also making a howeling type noise from under the hood that started about a week ago. The water pump leak I found a couple of days ago. I have already checked and had the car checked for vaccuum leaks and so far no sign of one anywhere. I am mainly concerned about the surging idle and the noise form the motor. I can replace the water pump and the compressor I think is just about to go out. Any ideas on what is causing the weird idleing and the noise under the hood. (No, it is not throwing any codes or displaying and SES light.)
