  • Were's the clock??? HELP!

I have only had the car 2 weeks 1998 v6 Firebird 88000 miles.… The weather here is in the low 30’s /
The last 2 days when I start the car a ticking is coming form the engine, It stops after the car warms up.
    What is it??

Where in "IN, near the river" are you? If you want to bring it over or meet up, I will help out if you need.

Maybe you should add some Lucus oil stabalizer. It will help with cold starts. I substitute some every time I change my oil.

lucas dicks up your oil, and eventually your engine. its been proven. stop using it now.

odds are it's the same tick we all have.. ;)
usually if you have a tick when the motor is cold yet goes away when it warms up then that's just a valvetrain noise from being cold, all our cars do that..

now if you have a tick that isn't there when it's cold and comes on as the motor is warmed up that is likely an exhaust leak at the manifold..

don't worry about it and there is no need for any additives to your oil, if everything on your car is right good ole 10w30 or 10w40 (whatever the temp range is where you live) will be fine..

98 Firebird - gone from mod mode to keep it running and useable mode.
