  • need help with driver side window motor

ok so on my new firebird the driver side window does not go up all the way. so i decied to take the pannel off to find out why. well who ever replace the motor did a crap job and it has been tearing up the door. the holes where the rivites used to be are twice the size they used to be so they are barely staying in place making so the window does not go all the way up. i dont want to put bigger screw in cuz i think its just going to tear the door up more so is there anyway i can patch the door up and start over?

Would using fender washers do the trick?

If I'm right about the holes your talking about, no, not really. The door is made of fiberglass. Unless you or you know someone that does fiberglass, I would just try to find a replacement door.

That's if I'm correct about what your talking about.

Doesn't the motor bolt up to a metal frame? Is that what we are talking about getting ripped up?

What you need to do is find a bushing that has and ID which is the size of the attachment bolt/screw. Then true up the oversized and elongaged holes in the frame with a drill bit the size of the bushing OD.

Then install the attachement bolt/screw with the bushing and fender washers.

Now the play has been eliminated.
