• Exhaust Vs Crossmember

Ok, I knoew this was going to happen but knowing that we have such brilliant and creative minds here I was not worried that a solution was not possible.

I have a 3" cat+back...and the exhaust has settled to the point that it is now hitting and at time vibrating against the crossmember (that do-hicky thing 1/2 way down the car).....anyone else run into this problem? Any thoughts on a permenant solution?

Take it down and add a few washers to it to give it more clearance.

maybe try to rehang the exhaust. sometimes the rubber streches

If you're talking aout the rear tunnel brace (behind the cat and tranny) then just yank it Even the big power LS1 guys take that thing off when there's clearance issues. The little bit of added rigidity it adds, can be more than made up for with other suspension/bracing parts

First I bent the flanges down a bit on the cross brace. Then I bent the cross brace down a bit in that low spot. Then I put washers on it.

After all that, it still rubbed/banged, so I made a hanger.

Similar location as the stock one for the back of the cat converter. I bought an exhaust hanger (the type about 6" long, rubber with several holes, and a metal bracket on one end). After fitting the hanger on the transmission mount and pointing it at the exhaust, I wrapped a clamp around the exhuast, pushed the pipe up, and tightened everything up. It sagged back down a little, but it's kept the pipe off the cross brace.
