How do I get the alternator off of my car? Is their a way to check and see if the alternator is bad? My car won't come on and I've already checked the battery and it's good.

    I have a 2000 Chevy Camaro V6.

Does the engine turn with the starter, and just not fire up, or is it just dead with the turn of the key?

Check fuses. If your battery is good, I would assume your alt is good. If your battery was just replaced it could be from the alt.

The engine is just dead with the turn of the key. When I open the door the lights don't come on, I can't put the alarm on or anything. I replaced my battery back in Jan. but until now everything has worked fine.

When I try to start the car nothing happens, it doesn't sputter or anything it does not come on. It seems as though there is no power. I've already checked my battery at autozone and its not that. So, I was thinking it was my alternator. Could it be a blown fuse causing all this trouble?

I'd check the connection at battery terminals. if the battery is good you should get dome lights and dash lights and radio and electrical type stuff. if you get all that but engine wont turn over then its a bad starter. You said battery is good. When did you have it checked? In January? If so have it rechecked. You dont need an altenator to start the car just to keep power recharging.

I had the battery checked yesterday. I'll check the connection at battery terminals to see if that is the problem.

If everything is dead, its one of the main battery cables...

Can you jump start it? (jumper cables to battery cable terminals) That might narrow it down to a batter->battery cable problem.

Autozone... they should be able to tell if visually they look bad. Just go out, look at the terminals and follow where the battery cables go. To see where they end up.

If the connectors to the battery are bad, then clean them, or replace them.

Wire brush will clean up most stuff.... even better if you can get a wire wheel for a drill.

Thanks for everyone's help. It was the battery cables, they were corroded.
