  • Brake Rotor questions

I have no idea if this is in the right forum, but here goes...

My driver side front rotor is warped from what I understand. When I hit the brakes, especially at low speeds, I can feel the car vibrate on that side, and the steering wheel vibrates. It is just a minor thing really. I will be replacing them in the summer when I can afford it. I have no idea about these things, so here are my questions:

How much is a single rotor to replace? (I mean stock factory rotors, NOT performance drilled or slotted ones)

Should I buy them in a set (replace front 2 at the same time, or all four)?

I don't want to have to order them from the dealer, so do any of you have any links for places that sell them (new)?

    Thanks in advance

If you want a "stock gm" rotor you're most likely going to have to get it from a dealership. And, most likely it's going to be way over priced. My advice is to head to Advance Auto Parts or some place like that and go pick yourself up a set. YES, you should replace both @ the same time. (both front or both rear).

Should cost you no more than $100.

      Thanks for the quick reply.

Did you mean $100 for a set of four? Or $100 each?

Actually, I bought my rotors from Autozone for $20 a peice for the fronts. I've had them on my car more then a year and they are still fine. $40 to do the front isn't that bad to temporarily fix a problem.

I bought 2 rotors from autozone or advanced auto I forget which for $35 apiece
been on for ~year and still fine
even gave me a nice 90 day warranty for me to beat the hell out of them to see if I could warp them in the 90 days :D

Rotors I will agree with on a good price from a parts store.

maybe check gmpartsdirect.com as well, as to not get bent over.

but as far as pads go...PLEASE STAY THE HECK AWAY from the advance auto specials. my stockers lasted from brand new till 52000 miles. I have 60000 miles now, so 8000 on the advance auto brakes...and they squeek already.

              piles of crap.

Front rotors were $32.00 a peice. The only place I found the rear ones was at the carquest distribution center outlet. $79.00 apiece. Do both sides at the same time.
