Actually, I would like to know this also, seeing as my fuel pump is bad and needs to be replaced.

I wouldn't think so unless you had EXTREMELY heavy modifications. You have to have a whole crapload of air in there without enough fuel being delivered for it all to combust. So unless you're talkin' big dollars in mods, just get a regular fuel pump.

Hell, even the guys running around 6 psi of boost could get by with a standard pump.

I would only do if I had a lot of mods and the old stock pump was going to take a crap(a lot of whining).

I'll be the one to disagree. A stock replacement pump could easily cost over $100 some places, and you can get a Walbro 255 alot of times for at or under $100 BRAND NEW. Why not??? It is a good decision, because it will allow more room to upgrade later on.

I went high 12's on the stock pump.

If you think you will modify it to the point where you NEED more fuel and you are changing the stock one now then upgrade

i run granatelli 255 lph

Alot of GM's OEM fuel pumps whine even when they are in good working shape. It does not mean they are bad or failing generally.

ok, so i guess the next step would be to put a pressure checker on it? and how do i go about doing that? or would it be easier if someone else did it, say the guys at gm since its under warranty still?

Yes, a pressure tester would be a very good idea if you think your pump might be dying. And if you're still under warranty, DEFINITELY take it in and complain about the whining noise, you are likely to get a new pump, and if the mechanic taking the test drive hears gear whine by chance too, you could get new gears too It happens all the time.

And yes, if upgrading to an LT1 or LS1, when doing any of the changes to your fuel system, it would be worth your time to go ahead and invest that $100 in a new pump.

Ok, so the stock fuel pump is like 280 some bucks, or something ridiculous if I can remember correctly. Now it is worth going aftermarket. And im guessing you guys suggest Walbro? This car will not be modded in anyway because its a peice of crap, so can I just grab a pump with like the stock specs from one of these companies?

The stock pump is not 280 dollars. But you can't buy the stock pump by itself. You have to buy the whole assembly (Which is $280).
You can buy a 255lph Walbro for like $90 and simply reuse the stock assembly (Pending it works).

There is not benifit to a bigger pump (as it may not even last as long) while N/A. But no problems from it either.

You think your stock pump is loud.
