First off i just want to say i love this board. I also love the V6 Camaro i own 3 of them. My newest is a 98 with a auto trans. the 3.8 is the most powerfull V6 I have everdriven. It has about 90,000 miles on it and I wanted to put a new set of plugs in it. How do you get to these things. anyhelp would be great.

You need two people, one with small hands. Two jack stands, and about 3-4 free hours. Make sure you have a spark plug socket and 3/8" socket wrench. Extensions and a universal are priceless tools in this process. Not to mention patience. I would recommend doing the wires at the same time, because you really are not going to want to change them later.1996 Camaro w/ Y87 package. T-Tops, purple, loaded. 3-4 hours is rediculous.. i'd give ya 30 min if you know what your doing..
you want to go from the top for the drivers side... go from underneath on the passanger side.
3/8 swivel socket works wonders sometimes..
before i got headers, it would only take me about 45 in to change out my plugs/wires.
now with headers it takes about...15 min tops.96 Camaro M5. first time i did it, and i have the stock manifolds, it took me about 1 hour 45 min to do plugs. do the drivers side from above the car, passanger side from under the car. the hardest one is passanger side middle.
like people said, a spark plug socket w/ built in swivle helps, swivle attachments, extentions, and thats about it.
its tough, but NOT 3-4 hours.
it took me 2 and a half hours to do PCV valve, plugs, check all wires, oil change, and fuel filter. and that was first time.

EDIT: Sorry about the mention of 3 -4 hours. That was including a brake job and I forgot to factor that in. It probably took close to 2 hours. Also, this was the first time changing these plugs, so I had no idea the best way to work each one. I hope this retraction is satisfactory.
As for a 30 minute job, I still have my doubts. Maybe for JUST the plugs after a couple practice runs to determine the best approach for each plug. But you are talking about 5 minutes TOTAL per plug, in and out. And that doesn't include raising the car, getting everything cleaned up, and all that other random stuff. But it isn't that hard after a time or two. Good luck!1996 Camaro w/ Y87 package. T-Tops, purple, loaded. Custom painted salad-shooters with Mirage paint.

(It\'s my girlfriends car!)

Changing the plugs takes no time at all in my opinion.
I agree with Tyler completely.
30-45 min tops.
Just yank those covers off with your hands (pull them striaght though) and then go at it with a socket and oyu'll be done in no time at all.
Hell it should only take 15 minutes period...I could do it now in like 5-10 with my new headers.
2 hours....what the hell....Shawn
2002 Silver W68 Firebird
