how come this only works on 99-02? I have a 98 and there is no factory spring on my hatch release. I don't even see where you could put one. Could I buy a used 99 or newer hatch release mechanism and hook it up? Will it actually make the back hatch go up all the way on it's own..i.e. how trunks pop up on newer cars?

sometimes the trunk wont pop on its own when you hit the electric hatch release. this helps it release on the first hit.

this will not work for 98's, only 99 and up have the spring.
