First off, it is a 95 camaro w/ 5spd. About a month ago its stopped starting when it's cold. The battery has a good enought charge. It will start when roled and the clutch is popped but otherwise, no spark is going to the ignition coils. I had codes pulled and got a code 82 which is something about a 3x signal. Does this sound like something caused by the 3x crankshaft position sensor? I know it isnt the ICM since that tested out fine, this is the only logical thing I can think of.

I really dont know, the only thing that might be the problem would be the smart key. If your key has the little resister chip in it. Try a diffrent key. I think if you use the worng key to start it, or if some how the resister went bad, it will kill the spark so a theif cant steal your car.<a href=\"http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2245261\" target=\"_blank\">http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2245261</a> Green 1997, 105k, all stock except for Z28 front springs, Air shocks in the rear, home made coolant recovery tank, home made battery hold down.

If car is already moving.. The computer thinks the car has started with the key. When you turn the key "ON OR RUN POSITION" it powers every thing but the starter, this includes fuel pump, spark plugs, radio, etc. When you turn you key to start it powers the starter, with the chip in the key the computer reads that chip at this time and if its not the right chip or no chip it will not fire the plugs. BUT, if the key is just in the run mode it does not read the key because it figures the key has already been read. Does this make sense?<a href=\"http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2245261\" target=\"_blank\">http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2245261</a> Green 1997, 105k, all stock except for Z28 front springs, Air shocks in the rear, home made coolant recovery tank, home made battery hold down.

Thats the best thing i can think of, because the car runs fine. And just does not get spark when using the starter. Id change the ignition switch, if it were my car....just my 2 cents.<a href=\"http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2245261\" target=\"_blank\">http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2245261</a> Green 1997, 105k, all stock except for Z28 front springs, Air shocks in the rear, home made coolant recovery tank, home made battery hold down.

OH, and if you do change your ignition switch out make sure the keys it comes with have the same chip resistance as the chip you have now. Or you could just bypass the whole chip thing by takeing your ignition out and soldering a resister "THE SAME RESISTACE AS THE CHIP IN THE KEY" to the two wires. Make sure you use shrink wrap to put around the resister so it would try to short anything out.<a href=\"http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2245261\" target=\"_blank\">http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2245261</a> Green 1997, 105k, all stock except for Z28 front springs, Air shocks in the rear, home made coolant recovery tank, home made battery hold down.

I was thinking of any easy way to test this. Take the hot or start wire (+) wire off your starter, wrap it up in tape so it wont touch anything, push start your car. Now turn your key to the start position, if the ignition is bad your car will die, if not nonthing will happen.<a href=\"http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2245261\" target=\"_blank\">http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2245261</a> Green 1997, 105k, all stock except for Z28 front springs, Air shocks in the rear, home made coolant recovery tank, home made battery hold down.

Take your starter and battery to autozone to have them tested, if all checks out then start checking the ignition module and security feature. If those all work then start looking at the coil control module and coil packs. Since you have no spark I would get the coil control module checked out, autozone may be able to test it for you. You could also have your car scanned by a gm tech with a tech2, it would show your secuiity problem and a possible ignition, coil module problem.255/50R16 Tires, Pioneer Deck, Pioneer 4 Way speakers, PPI Amps, JL subs, Spec Stage 3 Clutch, Optima Yellow Top

The starter is fairly new and has worked fine til now. Also, I had the ignition control module and coils checked, and it was all fine. The computer was scanned and a history code 82 was pulled. This is something about a 3x sensor, which leads me to think it may have something to do with the 3x crankshaft positioning sensor.
