  • Bent Frame

So about a month or so ago I spun my car around taking a slick curve and hit my back right wheel on the curb. Destroyed the wheel, bent the axle, bent a whole lot of other things down there and all that good stuff. So yeah bought a new wheel, tires, went and got everything fixed, but the only problem left is the bent frame. I don't know how safe this is but I'm still driving my car around. When I look at it from behind I can see that its crooked. I was supposed to go to a body shop but I just haven't had the time. Now all I'm wondering is does anyone know how much this would cost to fix? I've already spent more than $1,500 on repairs. Any other information I need to supply?

You'll need to take it to a Unibody Frame Shop and have it straightened. Not sure how much it's going to cost, but I'll say it's probably going to be alot more than $1,500.00. Did you make an insurance claim on it?

I don't think you should be driving it if you can physically see how bad it is. Thats not safe for you, and others! You're going to wear your tires down much faster and risk a blow-out, not to mention the damage to the suspension components.

yea id stop driving it. did the air bags go off? becuase when you get the frame pulled, your windsheld will more than likely crack. depending on how bad it is, id say only about $800-$1000. i paid like $3400 to get my car fixed and it needed both fenders and bumbers, windshield, pull the dent out of the quarter panel , pull the frame and repaint the whole car.

i think he said he said $500 to pull the frame and hang every thing ( put the new fenders and bumpers on and line everything up).i asked him while me and him were lineing everything up. i was just curious as to how much money i already owed him at the time.

Be aware however that after you spend the $1,500.00 or whatever, you will now be the proud owner of a $3,000.00 car instead of the $10,000.00 car you used to own.Nothing wipes out the value of a vehicle faster than bending the frame.

Wow, so yeah none of that sounds very good. OK so first off, I only had one way insurance so that's not an option. And there really isn't no second other than that with everything you guys have told me, this sucks. Thanks for the help though.

My cousin is a body shop guy at a ford dealership. He bought a totalled 2004 chey cavaler for almost nonthing after the insureance totalled it. He did all the work except the frame. The frame was done by his friend for 300.00, but he said it is normally about 600-1000 depending on the size, shape and damage to the frame.
