Just do it. Get the standard one from pep boys. You could tell if you had a vacuum gauge ... somehow ... but you might as well just replace it, as it's probably somewhat clogged.

Uncap your fuel cap, this will let some pressure out, but RECAP IT! RE CAP IT! RE CAP IT! So I hear (really I didn't spill the gas this way, I knocked over my can in which I was catching the gas), this helps relieve pressure, but that all the gas would drain out of the tank if you didn't re cap the tank.
