whenever i push the gas pedal to the floor my car revs up real high, but doesnt accelarate for almost a second, or atleast a lot longer than normal. is this the torque converter? also today, i drove real fast down the road and after stopping at a few stop signs i had to rev my car up to like 2500 rpms before it started moving (i have a4 trans)...but after shutting the car off and starting it up again it worked fine. is this something to worry about?

Matt,
Try checking the transmission fluid level first. This needs to be done with the car running and fully warmed up. Also check the color of the fluid. It should be red, not brownish.
Drive the car for about 15 minutes, then put it in park on flat ground. Run the shifter through all the gears for a couple seconds while sitting still. Then let it sit in park for about a minute and pull the dipstick.
Note that if it is at the add mark, you only need to add like half a quart of ATF. If the fluid level is low, you could experience loss of drive like you describe.\'00 f-bird 3.8 M5 coupe, pewter metallic
Torsen LSD, Pro 5.0 shifter, Spec stage 1 clutch, Y87 muffler, aftermarket stereo
-more fun than the Oldsmobile it replaced...

its not the trans fluid i just had a shop fix a trans fluid leak and change the fluid so i know thats not the problem. my car has 83k miles...i guess the transmission is on its last leg? also, i dont normally drive hard but i have no idea how the previous owner drove it since i got it from a dealership who bought it at an auction. but i didnt notice any problem with having to rev it up to like 2500 rpms until the other night and i havent had much of a problem since, weird..1995 3.4l dark green camaro
stock...for now

I had the shop change my oil once and it was half a quart low.
I had the shop replace my tires and two of the lug nuts were loose.
I had the shop install a shifter and they did it incorrectly.
At least rule out low fluid level by checking it yourself. Cause you're not going to like the solution if that's not it [$$$], and you'd feel like an idiot if that's all it was.\'00 f-bird 3.8 M5 coupe, pewter metallic
Torsen LSD, Pro 5.0 shifter, Spec stage 1 clutch, Y87 muffler, aftermarket stereo
-more fun than the Oldsmobile it replaced...

LOL. if you dont do the work yourself, or atleast stand right next to them while they do the work, your always going to have to go back and give them more $$$. And always when you get home dubble check everything.http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2245261 Green 1997, 105k, all stock except for Z28 front springs, Air shocks in the rear, home made coolant recovery tank, home made battery hold down.

if your fluid isn't low you might want to try changing the servo, you can get em for like $45 at
http://www.ftpp.net/V6Main.htm. but check your fluid first (it should be completely changed every 60k miles)K&N air filter, Whisper air lid, magnaflow LT1 cat back, and magnaflow high flow cat, pacesetter headers, silverstars

more to come soon
but for now im out of money
