• Clicking sound every 6 seconds or so at idle

Anyone else have this? It almost seems as if something is turning on and off every 5 or 6 seconds. Its really annoying. it is coming from under the hood, I have no idea where though. Any ideas?

I was just going to ask the same question. If you have your A/C on then thats the noise otherwise I'm not sure. Do you know where it is coming from, which side, etc?

The old compressors would chick in and out when the refrigerant was low. The new ones might as well.

Ok I will check that. The sound basically sounds like something is turning on and off kind of like th efan going on and off but I am not sure. I will try to find the prob.

I found the exact spot where the sound is being made. it is right where the AC compressor is. I think it is either the compressor, of the belt. The belt is kind of old and needs to be replaced anyway. Why would the AC compressor be clicking anyway? It clicks even when I first start my car in the morning and let it idle with nothing on (no ac, heat, anything else)

I'm gonna have to say that's pretty normal from what you're discribing. Does it draw power when it "clicks on"??? could be your cooling fan... I think you're just getting fussy like we all do from time to time

Yes I am pretty sure it draws power because my dash dims just a little bit. I dont think i am just being picky because this clicking noise is LOUD. People outside my car hear it loud and clear, and say "what is that clicking noise".
