Yeah, it's the same though. The only difference is the that it had iron heads instead of aluminum. If you want aluminum heads you need an LT1 from an F Body or a Corvette.
wahahahah my bad i didnt knew i was typing on a bad reply thingy....
well from what i know the LT1 came with an iron head.. and the LS1 came with the aluminum ones... or did they both came with aluminum? so does that mean this engine wont fit in my f-body? :(

the only lt1 that came with iron heads are the caprice and impala lt1s.
iron heads suck. heat soak kills all flow.
the motor will fit, but the heads are junk. (keep in mind impalas are only rated at 245hp and the lt1 found in the caprice is called the baby lt1,its a under bored lt1, with **** heads)
hold out for a motor from a fbody or vette.

hold out for an fbody lt1. Supposedly, the vette ones are angled different inside the heads on the first 2 years, not sure hwta that means, but yea

The baby LT1 is the L99 that was used in the caprice it's a 4.3 litre V8 265 cubes. It has the same apearance and looks exactly the same as the LT1 exept for stroke, bore and the rods are longer. It was rated at 200hp and 260 ft-lbs of torque. The 5.7 litre was also used in caprices but not all 9c1 caprices are LT1 cars, some have the L99.
