Do our cars spin the tires at full throttle starts? I know mine wont, it will if its on a wet street or off road, but not on a dry street with tires pointed straight. Ive had the car a few months and have never tryed till the other day. I tryed 3 times in a row at stop lights, it took off fast, but didnt spin the tires. My car is all stock and ive only put about 2k on it since i got it about 6 months ago. It now has about 105k. In the time ive had it ive replaced, fuel filter, air filter, 3 coil packs, spark plugs + wires, Transmission fluid and filter, tires, brakes, 2 out of 4 o2 sensers "the other 2 are in the mail", pcv valve, and most gaskets and seals you can think of.

mine will chirp on a dry straight line, but you gotta think about it, camaro tires are pretty wide (more traction). but i can get them to spin alittle more on an almost empty tank of gas.
i had a nissan 240 and i totally gutted the interior, sound deadner and all, and sinceit was so light i could roast them all the way to 3rd............... i miss that car... :-(
if you dont use the rear of the interior take it all out. lots O fun

you should be able to since you have a 3.8 liter. ive noticed with my 3.4 is if i floor it i cant always get them to spin but if i go from idle to about half throttle then they will start to spin. it took me a while to get the feel of the throttle to where i can spin them whenever i want. keep messing around with it and you will eventually be able to spin them

Should be able to spin them, but I noticed a huge difference in the ability to spin whenever I got new, better , $600 for 4 tires. So I figure a lot have to do with tire.

I can't spin my tires... They are brand new tires, and my clutch slips like theres no tomorrow if I try to launch it . But I can kick out my backend if I'm turning.

Mine will. My new ones wont spin as much as my old tires would.

But I have 3.42s so that might have something to do with it.

one tire fire
one wheel peel

i can do a burnout just fine.

getting the tires to chirp "off the line" (aka red light) isnt too hard, but i cant do it with a lot of stuff/people in the car for obvious reasons.

as far as spinnin wheels while shifting, no. you dont really want that anyway.

Thanks for all the replys yall. I was jest wondering. I know it will do it with no prob if i hold the brake, but i wont do that with my new set of tires. I guess its a good thing, tells me i have a good grip and can take off faster then if i was spinning anyways. I know my 95 silverado 5.7 will burn the tire or tires all the way down the street with no load in back. My truck is a 2wd,,,well more like 1wd, but i have 4x4 stickers on it....everyone makes fun of it...its so funny...here a pic of my truck and me. http://spaces.msn.com/members/Bobbyz72/PersonalSpace.aspx?_c11_PhotoAlbum_spaHandler=TWlj cm9zb2Z0LlNwYWNlcy5XZWIuUGFydHMuUGhvdG9BbGJ1bS5Eb3 dubGV2ZWxGdWxsTW9kZUhhbmRsZXI%24&_c11_Pho toAlbum_spaFolderID=cns!1pVq4VczLi7Wl2sQK8ii8ogg!1 10&_c11_PhotoAlbum_spaNumPhotos=17&_c11_PhotoAlbum _spaPreviousImageID=cns!1pVq4VczLi7Wl2sQK8ii8ogg!1 29&_c11_PhotoAlbum_spaPrevious ImageIndex=15&_c11_PhotoAlbum_spaMoveForward=0&_c1 1_PhotoAlbum_spaPlayState=0&_c=PhotoAlbum

tires have ALOT to do with it. my old summer tires (toyo proxies 245/50/16) wouldnt burn and would only chirp off a brake torque. my winters (grr... driving my baby in the winter) will burn out on almost anything; more than half throttle off the start, coming off curbs, turning quickly, its flat out annoying but i dont care, this is my last winter with this car so i'll destroy em by spring.

If you're just lookin to impress someone, try turning the wheel all the way to one side or the other and then floor it. I dont know why b/c I dont know about physics and the like, but for some reason my tires would spin a lot easier when the wheel is turned. And since theres no traction you dont have to worry about your car lurching forward in the direction you have your wheel turned.. May want to try this first in an empty parking lot in case for some reason you do get traction.
