If you have a leak it is going to leak no matter what kind of oil you put in it, but if you dont have a leak it won't leak.
the first part wrong. If you have a leak, but it's clogged with crap then synthetic could clean out the crap allowing the leak to flow. thus, the oil can matter.

No, its not currently leaking.
would there really be a difference in switching to synthetic, after 100k miles of conventional??
the answer is: depends on a lot of factors. some people have switched with no problems. The rule of thumb I've always heard was over 80K is a big risk to introducing a leak. It's a gamble. If it was my car, I'd stick w/ dyno oil every 3k.
i wouldnt use 5w-30, more like 10w-30 or thicker since ur motor is 100k mile mark, you want a thicker velocity oil to condition the motor better
You have no clue what you are talking about. It's Viscosity, not velocity. Thicker oil does not "condition" better, it's not a hair product. It is recommended to step up the thickness in the summer since the oil doesn't take long to get up to temp. Thinner is recommended in winter so the engine doesn't starve for oil on cold starts. Regardless 5w30 is fine in the 3.8 v6 anytime of the year since we don't see crazy high engine temps. In the Evo, we ran 20w50, because it had to go through the hot *** turbo.
That should clear up your miss. People that say coil, are confused. You would be missing on the corresponding cylinder as well.
Bull Sh*t! I can tell you that when I first got my car 2 yrs ago I replaced plugs and wires NGK TR55's and Taylor wires. The this past Christmas I had a misfire in cyl 3. I checked the plug and wire both were in perfect condition then I switched the 2 coils and what do you know I had a misfire in cyl 1. I replaced the coil pack and didn't have a problem until 3 weeks ago when cyl 5 misfired. I went straight to the coil pack and replaced it and the last remaining original coil pack. Problem solved. If you are going to change 1 coil pack I would change them all pretty soon. I seems to be one one is weak the other ones are weak too and will fail soon after. Have fun
