  • Test your knowledge...

What do you win? Not a damn thing, you can pat yourself on the back if you want I guess.

Problem: Service engine soon light came on last night

    Car: 2000 3.8 A4
History: Bought a little over a year ago, change oil reguarly, plugs and wires changed after buying it. Originally was putting 10-15 miles on it a day but in the last 3 months have put around 75 on it daily
Mods: None, well a Home Depot intake, that's it.

Symptoms: Slightly rough idle but barely noticeable.

Car still drives and performs as it always has. I haven't noticed anything screwy with it. I'm going to get it scanned tomorrow as I have no life or time anymore to do it right now. I'll post what showed up tomorrow afternoon until then see if you can throw some stuff out there to guess what's wrong with it or what codes I will get.
Let's flip a coin. Heads I get tail, Tails I get head.

I looked at it quick last night but haven't had time to check anything in detail. 18 hour days are a biatch.

I hope so, I don't have the time, energy or money to deal with anything I can't duct tape.

                EGR?

EGR I'll remove in a heartbeat.

Coil pack god I hope not. I don't have the money, duct tape won't fix it and the mounting bolts are stripped from whatever some previous douche did.

                    Re: Test your knowledge...

Coil would give you a misfire and a flashing SES light.

I'm still guessing O2 or other emissions equipment!

Thank you, forgot to mention that.

The SES light is solid on, not blinking. Right before I changed my plugs it would flash.

Ignition can be probably be ruled out.

No, I had a bad coil-pack on my 96 rs, it was a steady SES light.

MAF / dirty or bad, could probably use a throttle body clean

all my guesses have been stated already

egr, O2, coil, clogged fuel injector, fuel pressure regulator

                            thats covers my suspects.

I'm going to go with the majority here and say O2 or small misfire.

I usually have to double, triple my headlight switch for them to come up on my 97 Firebird. I cleaned all connections. Could it be the headlight switch...
