My rear springs are so weak, if i put any weight, say 50 pounds in the trunk area my car drops like an inch. And driving up and down small hills i can tell the car was underbuilt....gm engineers again Anyways do they make air shocks or adjustable shocks where i could stiffen it up a bit and maybe raise it about an inch in the front and rear. Has anyone ever done this. What do yall recommend

Putting air shocks on the rear is like welding the frame in a stance. When you run over any kind of rock, pothole, speedbump, ect. in the street, you'll know it!
You're better-off buying rear springs. My rear springs went bad too. I replaced them and the rear of the car is back to normal.sigpic

LOL thats the same thing the auto parts dude was telling me. Yes that might be true, but springs dont wear out. Over time they may shrink down a very little bit 1/4 inch. But never does a spring weakin unless overloaded all the time. Think about it, its like me saying your valve lifter springs need to be replaced after 50k becuase they have went up and down so many times and this and the heat makes them weaker. If i said that every one here would point their fingers at me and laugh out loud. Do an internet search,, every one agrees springs dont go bad.http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2245261 Green 1997, 105k, all stock except for Z28 front springs, Air shocks in the rear, home made coolant recovery tank, home made battery hold down.

there are adjustable shocks though yes...
KYB makes some adjustable air shocks they are pretty pricey though, they have a knob either on top or in the middle of the shock that you can adjust your ride height or whatever..
but it basically is welding your car in a stance like hockeyman said.
My friend put them on his mustang becuase he weighed down his trunk so much from his system when he lowered it , the back end was sagging, so he replaced his shocks with the kyb's and make the car level out.*Matt
Old people shouldnt use the internet.

I actually installed airshocks over Christmas and they are not at all like what hockeyman portrays them as. I like them better than my stock ride. I also bought the optional air control so I can adjust them from the driver's seat :D
Edit: but if your car is sagging that much you probably do need to replace the springs. I got the airshocks because I probably have like 100-150 lbs of stereo equipment in the rear.
