    hey guys i was just wondering if their were any mods that would aid in getting a bigger percentage of horsepower from the crank to the wheel. Could an aluminum drive shaft help?

    Driveshaft (aluminum) will help a lot. Check Ebay there is always atleast five or so auctioning there.

      You won't be able to get more force to the wheels, but the mass moment of inertia is alot less with aluminum and enables the drivetrain to accelerate at a somewhat increased rate. The big advantage is the reduced weight, not power transfer. The only real way to increase power transfer percentage is to use high quality lubes, parasitic losses are what cause the 20% drop in power from crank to wheels.

        A new torque converter will get a better percentage of your power to the wheels. Lurk around the drivetrain section for awhile, you will learn quite a bit. (Disregard this unless you have an automatic transmission.) If you have a manual transmission (I don't know much about mods for these) a better clutch might help.

            such as....?

            sounds cheap and effective. im interested. where could i find such lubes

              probably can't get better lubes, except maybe quality synthetic engine oil, but keeping fresh lube will help. You'll never get over parsitic losses, you need lube to live a long life. But a high stall torque converter will give you greater torque multiplacation at launch.

                They say if you run all synthetic lubes throughout the drivetrain (engine, tranny, and rear) that you can pick 5 or 10 hp I think. Watched Horsepower TV where they did it on a Camaro with Royal Purple synthetics and gained like 10 hp I think. I'm running all Amsoil Synthetics in my camaro. I couldn't feel the difference, but I guess the dyno doesn't lie [img]graemlins/burnout.gif[/img]
