Apparently the Maro likes to get warm when sitting in traffic. There is not coolant leak, and it always seems to be just fine when I run it in the driveway for 15 minutes to heat it up and find this problem. The thermostat is very new, replaced with a 180º unit. I can't imagine that it is faulty, as the car does not overheat extensively. I was considering the water pump, as the car has 86k on it, but it is not leaking at all. Any ideas?

Getting up to 210 is not overheating, how hot is it getting?

Wire in a manual fan switch if you don't like getting up to 210.

Recently mine would get hot enough to sound like a diesel and shut off. Very annoying sitting at a drive thu. But no problem on the highway.

After a high pressure test of the cooling system and top cleaning it to death, the problem is gone.

Either there was a blockage that got blown into orbit, or it was a huge carbon buildup.

Are you running dex cool or the "green stuff".
That dex cool (orange) is what I believe to be a problem waiting to happen. It tends to coagulate and get "gunky" after a while. I blew a heater hose back in January coming off the I-10 twin spans from New Orleans and nearly took out my car's engine when, what I would consider a "blood clot" of this stuff jammed up the system and popped a joint in the inbound heater line in two. I flushed it all out...went to the green...and no more problems with overheating. There may be a very good reason why the dex cool does that, but it would have to be a real good reason for me to ever go back to it. Check the condition of your coolant...it may just be time for a servicing of your cooling system. Blessings

The coolant was flushed about a year ago.
