  • fuel pressure sending unit??

So the fuel gauge doesnt work on the camaro.. its a 97.. im pretty sure its not a fuse, i need to check though..

I called a mechanic and i told him teh problem he says "stop." "is it a gm?" yea.. "is it a late 90's fbody.. like a 97-98" yea.. turns out its the fuel pressure sending unit.. conviently located inside the gas tank, on top of the exhaust and rear.. said its like an 800 dollar job becuase the sending unit comes w/ a new pump and everything.. a kit.. HELP lol.. anybody know of a better solution?

Only other way short of droping your rearend and everything to get to it, is to cut through the top. Between the back seat and where the trunk drops off, cut through there, and you can get to the top of the gas tank. Other than that I think you're f$&#ed. Sorry.

fuel level sensors are available for the newer cars, 98-02. you can get a fuel module for way less than $800.

yea if remmber right labor time on a fuel pump for our cars is like 6-8 hrs. i think when i did mine the fuel module only cost me $250, but now those things are like $550.

yea, i mean sure i could cut a hole in the firebirds gas tank and pull the **** out.. but i dont want to cut a hole in the camaro lol... im just giong to fill it up.. and refill every 160 miles... cuz at 20mpg that should be 8 gallons.. we have a 15 gallon fuel tank..

therefore i should come out w/ plenty.

even if my car for some stupid reason gets 15mpg.. just counting odds... i still only use 10 gallons :P

The whole rear does not need to be dropped. Just a crossmember and the exhaust. I had my shop replace the fuel pump and that's how they dropped the tank. They only charged me $100 to replace the pump (I provided pump).
