The loss of antifreeze, overheating and "clean intake port" all point to a leaking / blown head gasket or cracked head.
If they remember what cylinder had the clean intake port, I would have them put compressed air into that cylinder with the radiator cap off and see if the air finds it's way out there.
Is there ever any water/ antifreeze in the oil?
My milage went up about 3 MPG with the headers and 3" exhaust. No tunning ...yet but HP tunners is on the way.

Although I am sure they will know what I am talking about if I tell them to push compressed air through the "clean" cylinder. Just for educational purposes, how is that accomplished?
Would it be worth it, now that the focus has been shifted to the bearing or a rod?

By pressurizing the "clean" cylinder if there is a head gasket leak the air will find its was to the highest point in the system. IE the radiator cap. IF compression was low on all cylinders the piston rings are gone.
EDIT: If its a bearing look for metal flakes in the oil as stated but a rod knock you would have to tear it apart to find out or use a stehoscope.

If you think it's a bearing I wouldn't bother with this. But you would remove the plug from the cylinder in question. Then you would use a hose from a compression tester or one for holding the valves shut while changing valve springs and then use an air compressor to fill the cylinder with air. It will usualy push the pistion down to the bottom of the stroke, you will hear air leaking passed the rings. If the vlave job is bad you will hear it comming out of the intake or exhaust. If the head gasket is bad or the combustion chamber is cracked, it will come out the radiator, make sure the cap is off, most cooling systems can not hold 100+ PSI.

Thanks, I didn't know this. I will drain the oil into a clean container and drop a magnet in the old oil.

You would only use the hose and plug it into an air line.
A rod knock is a rod bearing that has failed, it too will put metal in the oil.

Well now that I know, I will suggest this be done tomorrow before I take the car from the shop. At least I will have a better idea as to what is going on. At this point it seems like any of the options are going to require extensive work to repair. I will still persue the swap. I have much money in the looks of my car, I am not going to just get rid of the shell. Besides it'll add to the sleeper factor.
Edit: I forgot to mention, the car will whine and knock after his has warmed up. When it is cold, it doesn't knock or whine. Do not know if this makes a difference, just thought I'd add that.

hey yo whats up,,you said that after you installed the a/c you started to notice that it started to heat up,,,,ok,the thing is maybe you didnot vacuum the system and did not put enough oil in it(talking about the a/c) check that.
and i see that you have alot of problems with you car
it remembers me my beretta,my grand father used to tell me not to have sex in cars,if you do the car just start to give eternal problems, so my sweet beretta went to hell. i passed this info to my brother that used to have an allout eclipse spyder,he didnt listen,same day he did his car went to hell.
i live in aruba,one happy island.maybe some of you know this island,..and it is our believe not to have sex in cars,otherwise kiss it goodbye for ever

Hopefully they did vacuum the system. As far as superstitions, I don't believe in them. I started having problems with this car before I did the nasty in it, so that throws your theory out the window.

The A/C not being Vacuumed before charging it would only make the A/C not wark as well as it should( blow cold air). It wouldn't make thwe car run hot. Does the car not over heat if the A/C is off?

i did not want to believe them either,but it happend, i said in my country they believe it, good luck with your car.

i did read your post now,,,man,if you use low grade low octane fuel what other could you expect,misfire?? no man those are small detonations,and they make you loose power in accelaration. tow in a bottle of octane booster and check it out.or use good fuel.

It would still get hot even if the A/C was off. It would get a bit hotter with the A/C on, but not much more.

Not sure who you were referring to. I'm sure most here can agree; putting anything more than regular fuel in our cars is a waste of money.

It's normal for a car to run warmer when runnig the A/C.

You may see slightly better mileage due to less knock retard with 91 octane. Also the higher octane fuels have additives in them that keep the injectors and valves clean.
