  • 70mph @2100rpm Normal?

I never realy paid much attention to it but my car, 94 camaro 3.4, slp cai @ flowmaster ( muffler only), runs 2100rpm @ 70 mph & 2500rpm @ 80 mph. I saw this on my trip to Seattle the other day, its flat all the way. Is this the norm, what do other cars run?

Yup that seems about norm. What kind of gears do you have? I have 3.42's and I run 70 at 2000.

      you two have different engines
      3400 and 3800

but with 3.08s, you can run 70 in a 3.8l Camaro at around 2100 rpms.

I don't know how helpful this will be but my 3.8L M5 at 80mph in 5 gears (3.23s) is "approximately" around those RPMS. So it doesn't sound out of the ordinary.

Insane have you checked what gears you have on your door codes? Also do you have auto or manual?

Mine runs at about 2000 at 80mph and I thought it was pretty high. I checked my Dad's Tahoe which is automatic and it was only doing like 1200!!! I couldn't believe it. But I guess there are too many variables, like tire size, gears, tranny, etc.

@ 70 MPH I'm dailed in at 2000 RPM's exactly. I have a 99 3.8 w/ the A4 and 3.08's out back. Sometimes I feel like they put the 2.73's in my ride, especially when I'm loping along at 50 on a country road(yes we have a few in Miami) and I'm doing about 1400 RPM's
