I had this code before (I'm 95% certain that's the code it pulled) and took it in to the shop. They supposedly fixed the problem by replacing the MAF AND IAT sensors. That was obviously not the problem, because I'm still getting the code. The car (I think) drives a tad rough in low-rpm (but this could be my mind playing tricks on me.) It has a very slight lope intitially on startup, even when I start it warm. It smoothens out within ten seconds.

I'm thinking maybe it's the O2s: the light doesn't come on until I've been driving for a few minutes, which makes me suspect that the O2 sensors have completed open loop mode and are actually in the loop, affecting A/F. If I were to unplug the 02 sensor(s) (assuming one or more of them is causing the problem) would I see a difference in how the car runs?

Other possible problems I can think of are that the plugs or wires are bad, but I had those replaced less than 10,000 miles ago. I think maybe I should check them anyway. How can I tell if my plugs are fouled or if my wires are bad?

BTW: the SES light will turn on after a few minutes of driving, then just randomly turn off, leading me to believe it's a sporadic short in a sensor somewhere.

I might just take it back into the shop but I would appreciate any advice as to the source of my problem. It's too costly to take my car in for problems like this and frankly I think I'm ready to solve them on my own. I HATE having my car in the shop. I would rather bloody up my own knuckles than be without my car for two days.

I've done searches about this problem and they were inconclusive. I learned enough to narrow down my problem a lot, I just need a bit more guidance now.

i would think it is something to do with one of your sensors and if you've already replace the MAF and the IAT then the O2s would probably be the most likely cause, but i would try to get some more opinions, those things are EXPENSIVE!!!

i jest replaced my o2s, 4 of them, 2 costs $89 each the other 2 cost 65 each! Car runs like new, i did it because i was getting crappy gas milage. I have yet to figure my gas milage to see if improved.... HIT, BUT ALL YOUR O2s OFF EBAY....MUCH MUCH MUCH CHEAPER.

I had that code on my Camaro also. It was running rough when it was cold and after it sat for over 30 minutes but it always smoothed out after 10 seconds. My problem was a bad fuel pressure regulator. Gasoline was leaking through the regulator and into the vacuum line which was dumping back into the intake, causing it to run rich. Pull your vacuum line, on the fuel pressure regulator and look for gasoline. Maybe thats your problem.
