Re: I want to switch to synthetic

Right after I got my car in July first thing I did was change my oil. I had no idea when the last time it was done, or what type of oil was being used. I assume it was being done at the dealer because the previous owner was a female lawyer. I used Mobil 1 5w-30, with a Mobil 1 oil filter. All that plus two new oil drain plugs with new O-rings cost me like $30. I don't see how anyone can spend $50-$100 on an oil change. I have had no problems since my last oil change with Mobil 1, probably because my Camaro was only driven 3,000 miles a year for the past 7 years. I personally won't use any other synthetic due to the fact that so many sports car manufacturers reccommened using it. Royal Purple is overrated though, the only difference between Royal Purple and Mobil 1 is that it costs more.

can you prove that banks? can you prove the the differences between the 2? and why the hell are you using 5w-30.. sounds a bit thin for your expertise in oil.

I just switched to Amsoil and a K&N oil filter. My car has 95k miles on it and the new synthetic oil makes the car run stronger, and shift better (it's an A4). I say go for it!!!

u think i should? the only oil that might be leaking that i can see is a bit around the valve covers, but its not that bad.
