a spark plug socket with an open ended wrench sometimes works for tricky plugs

Get it from below. Once you pull them, get the shorty plugs.

open end wrenchs work wonders. you just need to get under it and take your time. don't twist your plug and cross thread anything

SLP makes a short spark plug socket that you use a open end with. That's what I use. Check wherever SLP products are sold.

i hate that stupid middle plug!!!!!
it was the reason it took me like 3 hours to change the valve springs on that cylinder!!!

Or you can always get a hammer and dent the header in a little bit to allow more room.

Yet another reason to hate pacesetter! It's always taken me 10 mins to do plugs on my 00 V6 :) Tubular manifold FTW! My RK Sport headers worked well too and plugs were a breeze!

the headers on my other camaro are like that, and i see no performance decrease from it

Re: pacesetter header spark plug problem

The plugs are easier to change with the Pacesetters then they are with the stock early 3.8 manifolds. I got that one from underneath with an offset box end wrench.

Denting the header will affect performance, But with a close to stock motor you will not notice it. The more power the motor makes the more dents in the headers will slow you down. If you do go that route keep the dent as small as possible.

good suggestion. summit carries em for $30.

short rant: about a year before slp came out with those sockets i had made my own. basically took a 5/8" socket, cut it down to about 1 1/2" long, and ground flats in it for a 3/4' wrench. specifically for doing plugs with headers.
now i see slp gets $30 apiece for them

so you're telling him to take a hammer and hammer his header to make room? how can that be a good idea? let me come over to your place and bash your exhaust in.

If they are coated, won't this crack the ceramic coating?
