My car will sometimes rattle and shake, especially when i am going 45 mph or faster and only when accelerating or when i have the cruise control on. It shakes uncontrollably and is actually pretty bad. It feels as if it is coming straight from underneath the car. I almost fully believe it is my new aluminum driveshaft that is causing this problem, but what could make the driveshaft do this kind of thing? the u joints? i looked it over and it seems to be on there good (the d.s.) but what would cause this problem? any ideas?

Re: driveshaft possible culprit??
alignment is like 50 bucks depending on where you go and live.
but if you have never had your alinment done, i would go and do that reguardless

Re: driveshaft possible culprit??
What the hell are you talking about "Auto Balanced"? Do you mean that it was balanced for an automatic, or that it was balanced by the previous owner, or that it was balanced when assembled by GM? Pull it out and take it to a driveline shop. They will balance it for a small fee. This is the exact reason I never went with a used driveshaft. Also, get the alignment. You ask what the problem is, but don't want to take any steps to remedy the issue. My god man, do you want me to come take the car to the alignment shop for you? Also, it could be a wheel balancing issue. Do not take the car to some major chain to have the wheels balanced. Try an independant shop, they tend to be much cheaper!www.fullthrottlev6.com
www.chitownracing.com

Re: driveshaft possible culprit??
as far as alignment goes, go to a big shop like tirekingdom. for like 120 bucks i got unlimited, free alignments and rotations at tire kingdom for 1 year :P. so worth it man, I get my wheels rotated once every 2-3 weeks.. rotated and balanced once a month, and aligned about once a month :PWE CAN REBUILD IT, WE HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY

oopsy poopsy, i thought the d.s. came balanced =/ guess i will take it to a shop and have an alignment and have the balance my d.s. at the same time, that should run up the bill.

Re: driveshaft possible culprit??
It came balanced from the factory. However, it is used and abused. I'd start with balancing it and your wheels. Save the alignment for last, unless you're really sure your car needs an alignment.www.fullthrottlev6.com
www.chitownracing.com

Re: driveshaft possible culprit??
Meaty, only god knows where this driveshaft came from or what abuse it has seen! Congrats that you got a good one, but this one could have come out of a wreck and may be tweeked.www.fullthrottlev6.com
www.chitownracing.com
