  • do I have some kind of alternator problem on my 98?

Just last night I was coming home, I had the headlights on, fog lights on, fan on low, and radio on. that battery gauge was fine, I hit my blinker to make a turn and everything dimed, the dash almost went out, and I though it was quickly shuting off, the battery gauge hit the red mark.
Once I completed the turn and the blinker went off it returned to normal.
It's a 98 and only had 22,500 miles, I put most of them on in the last year, the previous owner pretty much let it sit till he could pay it off so this car didnt get alot of action, it still has the origional battery and alternator along with everything elts.

Also, my power windows have been really slow the last 6 months, they will not go unless the engine is running what do you guys think? should I get it looked at or wate for it to stop?

Sounds like a short to me..... the blinker doesnt pull enough to do that...and windows.... the motor is prolly going out... cuz if the car is off... and your doing it.. it has nothin to do with the alternator

Today, I drove around with the Lights on, defoger on and then I tried the flashers, only then would it start to get stressed and I would notice the gauge jumping. I am going to just keep driving it cuz it doesent seem to be enough of a problem for me to pin point it.

Take it to Autozone or Advance AutoParts and get them to test the battery and alternator. I would guess your battery is going. That isnt much charging time based on the low miles on a battery that is over 5 years old. I'm thinking your battery is gone.

Mine does the EXACT same thing! I also have a NEW $80 DieHard battery so that isn't the cause. I'm thinking the alt also.
