I cleaned my throttle body and now the car blows white smoke
i cleaned my throttle body yesterday..i had put it back together and noticed it was leaking alot of water from where the TB bolts onto the engine. so i shut the car off asap..then today i put a new TB gasket on and bolted it back up. everything put together. and now the car blows white smoke out of the exhaust.
so what did i mess up by letting the TB leak water?
the white smoke smells like coolant to me..i'm not sure though.. did coolant get into something that it wasnt suppose to?
Re: I cleaned my throttle body and now the car blows white smoke
I'd say some coolant may have leaked into the intake before you changed the gasket. Check your level, top it off, take it for a quick drive. Let it cool down and check the level again.

If you're a newber like me... try seafoamin it.. Maybe that could clean up a little water/antifreeze you got in there. Don't take my word for it cause I don't know what the hell I'm talkin about yet.
Re: I cleaned my throttle body and now the car blows white smoke
Eh I seafoamed through my brake booster, didn't get much smoke like I was hoping but I suppose thats a good thing.. But yeah no problems what so ever. How many miles do you have on your car anyways?

cool, prob some coolant just leaked and u needed to burn it off
Eh which is why I suggested the seafoam to hopefully clean it out. Anyways, glad to hear its better. I'm assuming you got it in there from taking the throttle body off when you tried to remove the MAF screen yeah?
Re: I cleaned my throttle body and now the car blows white smoke
your where leaking coolant not water. and coolant goes fromthe upper intake, to the tb, so if you didn't put a new gasket on there you would leak coolant. glad you got it fixed
