In your opinion what's the best regular oil out there for our cars?
I realize synthetic has amsoil and royal purple and what not, but are there any oil that is way ahead of everything else in regards to just regular oil?
Normally i just buy whatever is on sale but if there is a better oil out there i'm willing to pay a bit more for it. so what kind is ahead of the competition for regular oil?
shell rotella t. theres a certain compound still found in rotella that other oils dont have anymore. cant remember exactly what compound it was, but it was found to be not so environmentally friendly.

This is like asking people their favorite color. Everyone has their preference. For dino oil, any name brand will do. I typically buy whatever is on sale. If they are all the same price, I lean towards Mobil.

ZDDP, zinc, which you can get OTC in some additives, or in the oil, like Rotella. Theoretically, the current rated oils (is it SM now?) can get by just fine without it, except for some older engine designs.
oh no sorry :(.. i didnt read the original post lol
but jw.. why would you want regular oil? sure it saves a couple bux.. Dont get it for the "supposed HP" it adds, get it for the extra lubrication and longer engine lifetime it provides.

i certainly realize the quality of synthetic oil, however i have been running dino oil in my car and it's 15 years old and has 91k miles on it. I have decided that an oil leak is not something i am willing to deal with and therefore look to get the best dino oil i can find or hear about (point of this post) i'm not looking for personaly preferences, i'm looking for an oil that is significantly better than the others (like royal purple is ffor synthetic) ok?
