as long as they have the badge on them, they all work just fine. Personally I think it's the filter that really matters.
thanks... beat me to it. The article I found awhile back pretty much showed that with the study... all oils did fine, the filter was the most important asset to your oil.

oh my. good read, this has changed my opinion i should say. Perhaps the article is correct and todays oils are slightly better at best than one another. guess i will just go with whats on sale =)

however, the article notes on engine wear and such, however it does not touch upon how well the engine would run with different oils.... for instance, my brother used royal purple and it never ran smoother. But oh well, i guess they're all the same.

ok then lol.... whats the best filter out there? =) i've always gone with k&N gold class, simply because its a brand i trust and its expensive (lets just be honest, we think more expensive means better quality)

          Re: best oil?

the article was used on taxi drivers who drive crazy and all day in all sorts of weather. They tried different oils in more than one car at a time and actually took the whole engine apart and checked them over. IMO... don't get the most expensive, just stick with something and don't switch.

Well i don't agree... I've learned that most expensive means that someone wants more money. Lets face it, its not about the parts as much as the brand name you are buying. If you stick with simple name brands then you'll be fine. Look for the one that seems to be in the mean price.

you'll find all sorts of stuff here

I used pennzoil in my car and always have... I've had no problems so I'll stick with it. I'm sure K&N, Amsoil, bosch, valvoline, any name brand will be fine. You might even be okay with using wal-mart brands or such, but I like to stick with a good name. As long as you replace the filter and oil properly and during good time durations, you'll be fine.

I use that in my 80 malibu... for some reason it seems to work best in that car... but according to the article I guess its in my head. Best thing to do... find an oil you like and can afford, then stick with it.

The question I would be asking is what oil/filter should I NOT buy?

Dont buy Fram of all things or cheap oils. Like Dollar Store oils. They are recycled oil.

i've always used castrol in all of my vehicles, and when i worked at express oil change, if a customer asked what i use in my car and what i recomend, i always say catrol, and for the filters.........i use k&n if at all possible and if nobody has one of those i use mobile 1. but from working around oil for a LONG time. i've noticed that bosch and valvoline have good filters. and just so everybody knows, only use oil out of the bottle, not out of bulk if you go to an oil change center. and no, express isnt the only ones using cheap recycled oil in there bulk oil. ;)

                                come get some
