ok im not sure if this is the right place for this thread but i was wondering wat thermostat everyone suggest? i have a 99 3.8 maro, should i go 180 or 160? any problems with going for a 160? and are some brands better than others (slp, stant, hypertech, ect)?

get a hypertech 180 or you can get a 180 at autozone as well. Either will work. Your car will not like the 160 and set of a code probably. Most 99+ have problems with codes being triggered from 160s unless they get them tuned for it with a tuner.

so yea go with a 180.

i have a 180, i have never had a problem. do keep in mind if your car is not moving and you have the air conditioner off the gauge will still go up to 210 and hold, but dont let that scare you.

01-02 have a problem with 160* thermos and will set a code. I never got a chance to play with it yet to find a better way to solve this other then tuning. but I "belive" the 99 is ok

i have 160 degree. but its POINTLESS to have a lower temp thermostat if you dont have a manual fan switch. Look into doing that as well if you're gonna get it. Its about a 5 dollar mod.

Gas mileage will stay the same..

You just need a resistor, and its been told to solve the problem.

and only 01-02 have the problem. Every other year don't have the problem.

As for 160* stats. Where are you guys going I been wanting to order one and do a coolant flush all at once. Just all the places I have see seem to be about $25 shipped. I was hoping to find somewhere cheaper.

                    YOu guys know anywhere?

The only issue I ever heard with the 160 is you could stay in closed loop, being that low. I have a 180 and even with the a/c on, in city traffic, I'm still under 210.

yea I do, lol I actually had to use it once to get my car towed home behind my dads truck when my fuel pump went out, lol. It worked great for hooking the tow strap too
