your never ever ever going to remain in open loop (not closed loop) from a 160* thermo. It's complete bull. Your not going to harm the motor in the slightest. Even with a 160 your car will still (eventualy) run just as hot while sitting. when you drive and have air entering the motor or the fans are on you will notice that the temp will be a little lower.

DO NOT place a resister in the IAT to compinsate for th code set on the 01-02. there are better ways around this. Doing that can actualy hurt your performance. Making the computer think that the incoming air charge is very cold isn't a good idea and can (in some cases) cause damadge.

              I won't say its bad...

but "skimming" bit looking at the IAT tables looks like there is only a 3* of timing differnce between like -40* and 130*

when your running 220* and hot hot combustion chambers, 3* of advance can mean a whole lot.

But you shouldn't be seeing 220* with a 160 stat.

I barely see it with 52k coolant 195* stat, 8, 0-100 mph logs, then sitting and idling for like 10 minutes reviewing them in my car

You will benifit, I put one in mine and it works great with the manual fan switch for staging lanes and overall keeps the engine a little cooler. Having a cooler thermostat is always good idea when you are modding a car. Help prevent detonation and such with the more power by keeping things cooler.

yup, they will continue to run like normal. I made my own for my car and it works great

it depends on how the switch is made. I have seen a lot of bad designs out there. Most will allow normal operation, as they should.
