want to do a swap on my 98 3.8 A4 , which engine should i go for ? LS1 , LT1 ??
Ls1 seems to be better some how but more complicated , LT1 is as good and has a wider performance parts range , one more thing is .. my tranny " 4L60E " .. isn't it the same as the one on the SS models ? .. if so , i won't have to changy my tranny will i ?

LS-1 and LT-1 are equally difficult. You can't use a V6 tranny as the bellhousings on the trannys are different between V6's and V8's. Use the search feature in the Advanced Tech Forum to get more information

With the '98 up, the LS1 is much easier to swap. If you get the same year LS1 as your car, the wiring effort is greatly simplified.
Get the matching k-member, tranny, pcm, and wiring harness. Get a v8 gas tank, or get a '97-98 vette fuel rail and fpr to tie into your fuel lines (return-type vs. returnless).
I just put an lt1 engine into my v6..It is sweet.. I had a 1997 3.8L now it has a 1994 lt1 powertrain. Here is what went down.. Bought Engine, trans, all belt driven accessories, wiring harness, and pcm off e-bay for $2099 + $400 shipping. Used k-member (engine crossmember) because V8 mounts did not bolt up to v6 bolt locations...$100. Slp headers from a buddy $200.. Radiator $110 with trade in of old radiator. New throttle cable..$13. New springs, Fuel pump, Ac components, cruise control cable, and cat back exhaust will be ordered this weekend. Slice 2 wires and move the pin location of another....and vroom one bad *** bird.. I had a 3.73 limited slip differential from when I upgraded my rear end last year. I drove the v8 today for the first time...just installed the throttle cable. FAST let me tell ya. Broke em loose..caught..then damn near put her sideways during 1-2 shift.. Assloads of torque..your v6 auto trans WILL NOT bolt up to the v8. My advice, If ya have the resources to do the work, buy an engine package deal..have fun
Hey everyone! I've been trying to remove my transmission for two days now! I need to replace the clutch. Only thing I've got left holding the transmission...
Hello, so I changed the front bearings on the bird and the ABS inoperative light came on. I made a mistake of not removing negative battery cable. Now...
I usually have to double, triple my headlight switch for them to come up on my 97 Firebird. I cleaned all connections. Could it be the headlight switch...
