  • Lights dim at high RPMs (not stereo related)

When i accelerate, usually in the high rpms 4000+, the lights begin to dim, then i shift and lights go back to normal. it is very noticeable in 2nd gear particularly. I have a new battery and alternator as of this past summer. i am just concerned because i know it has to be robbing me of power, and i would like to fix it. anybody have any suggestions? or is this normal.

The AVR, AUTO VOLTAGE REGULATER, which is built into the alternator. Which such high rpms the alternator starts producing too high of voltage and the avr kills the out put of it. Ever notice if you have you lights on with you car running....this is about 13.5 volts. Kill the engine and the lights dim, now your running at 12volts. Im sure if you put a meter in your cigeraete outlit you could see the voltage drop at high rpms.
