  • Anyone ever had problems with their Ignition module?

On the way to work it kinda started backfiring under high RPMS. Then it it started not starting had no spark. Heard all the 3.1 2.8 3.4 and 3.8 had this problem because they get too hot from the engine, so i changed it today while i was at work in 30 mins..

I had a problem with a coil pack, but it died b/c it overloaded.

yes, i have had to replace mine twice. i always post when ignition issues come up.

the coil pack/ icm assembly is fundamentally flawed. it likes to collect water but thankfully it is easy to get to... but that doesn't make it any less of a PITA.

3.4's suck balls when it comes to ignition BS I've changed each of the coils 2 times, I think i'll try to end this madness and just get msd ignition maybe (crosses fingers) it will work.

My ignition module seemed to be going out so I was going to get a new one. Then I found out how much a new one was going to run. I took the module off and found a lot of corrosion build up on the bottom of the unit. I cleaned off the corrosion and applied a coat of spark plug lube to the bottom and that seemed to fix my problem. Maybe it will work for you.

I just had to replace my Ignition Module this weekend. My car was running real rough. I went out and found one for my car but it cost me $222. That was an expense I was not looking for right after getting my Clutch put in and rearend leak fixed.
