• clicking sound...stupid question?

i have noticed that every time i park my car and get out while its still running every 20 seconds or so i will hear a click come from under the hood. its pretty loud outside the car and its definitely coming from under the hood. my old car didnt do this and i dont know if all camaros do, i was just wondering what it might be.

It must not be to stuped of a question because no one has answered it yet. The only thing i can even think that it might be would be the 2 fans cycling off and on.

is it your ac compressor clutch activating? even without the a/c on, the clutch will still occasionally click in. next time you start to hear the noise, pop the hood and check out the a/c compressor. I know mine is pretty loud when it engages and disengages so maybe thats it...

Im sure its your A/C compresser also. The only times the a/c clutch engages is when the a/c or defrost is on. When your a/c is on it cycles off on about every 30 seconds. If it cycles faster you could be low on freon. Put the a/c off and see if you still hear the noise.

doesnt matter.. the a/c can engage from time to time even if you dont have it set to a/c... it sounds like a single click wehn it engages and a single click when it disengages. roughly 30 seconds apart or so. you'll probably only hear it at idle since its not a very loud sound and road noise covers it up.

Could be converter or manifold heat shields. You normally hear them ping/tick after you shut the motor off.

Also, if you've got it set on defrost (the last 2 knob positions to the right) it will cycle the AC compressor to dry the air on the windshield.

Why dont you do this....look at the compresser and see if its engageing when you hear the noise. I dont know where its located on a 3.4 but use a mirror if you have to. Im sure you have it on defrost or something. LOL YOU SAY GUYS ITS JANUARY...WHAT ARE YOU SAYING....IM RUNNING MY AC IN MY CAR AND MY HOUSE. I LOVE SOUTH TEXAS.
