I've heard about people removing their mass air flow screen from in front of their throttle bodies, but I want to KNOW if its worth it or not. Does it just make your car sound better or does it help with power at all?

I think he means the general consensus is that if you have a 99-02 then taking it out is a good idea. If you have a 98 or older, don't.
Personally, I have mine out. It makes the intake sound better. :D1998 M5 3.8 Mystic Teal Camaro
Flowmaster exhaust, Pacesetter headers, 3\" cat, 3\" S-pipe, whisper lid, ram air, Spec Stage 1 clutch, Poly Trans mount, Walbro 255LPH. crossed my mind that way but wasn't sure. I also thought he may have meant 99positive and 98negative, I was thinking hmmmm to close to risk it. hahaha thanks! nah, I mean I thought 98 people said it was bad and 99 said it was good, you get me? It's like you're blind folded and 15 people tell you to walk forward and 16 say walk backward, who do you trust? thanks though hahaha, I'll probably take it off next week Cardomain> http://www.cardomain.com/id/7camaro7
CarSponsorships.com> \" target=\"_blank\">http://www.carsponsorships.com/scout/sponsor.php?id=2358\">
Webmaster\'s Earn Money Here> \" target=\"_blank\">http://www.carsponsorships.com/scout/index.php?ref=2358\">

either way just don't remove it. The POSSIBLE gain of 1% is not worth the PROBABLE issues that can arise. The screen is there to make the air flow lamiar (streight) just before the MAF eliments. This is because turbulent air might cause incorrect readings from the MAF sample. Take it out and you risk bad air sampling which will usualy cause a lean condition.1996 Silver camaro Z28. ^ it's not that it's better, it's that the possiblity of negitive side effects will lessen.1996 Silver camaro Z28. Someone from our website posted a bunch of air flow numbers for different intake setups on F-Bodies and you'd be suprised how much air flow is blocked by that screen.Newfoundlands Camaro & Firebird Enthusiast Site
www.nf-fbody.com

how were the numbers gathered? Funny how you say that there was a lot of information gained yet didn't post any of the proof. When dealing with the screen your not looking at a lot of restriction. Sure there is some mass to overcome as well as some surface tension but honestly the screen will not become a restriction untill your pushing a lot more power. Even at that point your still talking at a minimal gain. Aside from that minimal gain your also very possibly going to see problems due to faulty air sampling. Because of all of these reasons your better off simply leaving it alone.1996 Silver camaro Z28. i agree with hbh that it is not that much of a restiction. im sure that it flows more than enough for an internally stock engine.2002 35th Anniv.
