  • hatch or weather stripping?

whenever i drive especially in the rain, i can hear all kinds of outside noise coming from the rear, it sounds like one of my windows is open or something and its pretty louyd. i can esp hear the rain coming off the tires or something like that. i figure its either the hatch not closing right or something or the weather stripping around the trunk. but has anyone else had this problem?

I drove a camaro like that once and didn't buy it.
I'm guessing it's the weatherstripping that needs to be relocated/reglued/replaced. If the hatch doesn't latch properly, the warning light usually comes on. Are all the body seams and gaps around the hatch uniform?

      this might sound dumb but...

are your back seats folded down?
do you have all the hatch interior panels (left side, spare tire cover, and that flap. and is it in place?)

the rear make a lot of noise. i bought my car without any of the hatch interior and it was horrible. since then ive gotten all the pieces and its fine.

also check if anything back there is loose. spare tire, jack, etc.

I know what you are talking about, the loud noise in the rain. That's just the way it is, my car has been that way since the day I bought it brand new. It's a hatchback, therefore the wheel wells are open to the inside of the car. When you drive in the rain, you can hear all the water very clearly. In a car with a trunk, the sound stays more isolated in the trunk and is separate from the passenger compartment. The short answer is...it's normal.

I second this. My car isn't exactly tight as a drum, but I can't tell it's just noisy by design. The hatch area is definately one for noise.

well the back seats are not folded down, however i took off some of the plastic molding panels to install my amp. i heard the noise before that tho. seems like the hatch is loose or something but its glad to know that the loud water noise is normal so atleast i dont have to fix it even though its annoying
